Honoring the Fallen

Arlington National Cemetery currently has an exhibit entitled "Faces of the Fallen" that features more than 1,300 portraits of service members who have died in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The exhibition is housed at the Women in Military Service to America Memorial inside the cemetery. The portraits were painted by over 200 different artists and are done in various styles. Each portrait is approximately 8x10 in size and has a nameplate showing the person's name, rank, hometown, age, and date of death.

Seeing that not everyone is going to be able to make a trip up to DC to see the exhibit in person, please let me know if anyone has a family member, friend, loved one, etc., who has been killed in either Afghanistan or Iraq. I will do my best to get to Arlington to take a picture for you to send through email.

The gentleman pictured to the right is CWO Robert W. Channell, USMC. He was killed in Iraq on 22 April 2003. He was a native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and the brother-in-law of my stepmother, Denise.
